Very excited to share a new Filibuster project with you. Basically, each month I’m compiling and curating the best events and experiences in NYC that benefit causes that are under attack right now.
Like I said in January, community is the greatest ally of hope. I’m hoping through this community that we can continue to lean on each other, and also make a difference in our city, country, and world. So let’s start Filibustering some bullshit:
Open Bar for Haiti
Friday, May 19th
Benefitting Serve Haiti
This one comes from our very own Constituent Balke. By the way, does anyone have a bigger heart than Constituent Balke? Doubtful. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of her joy, try to make it out to this one. It’s a cause near and dear to her heart. If that doesn’t sell you, it’s $30 for an open bar and a great way to kick off the weekend on a positive note.
Filibuster NYC presents: Mating Call
Benefitting Planned Parenthood
This Sunday, May 21, 2-10pm
Well, I mean, I know it’s our event... but it still counts. This year every Filibuster event comes with the option to Offset Your Party Footprint, as well as a % donation from Filibuster. For Mating Call, we’re donating money to Planned Parenthood. Because this healthcare bill is bullshit.
I’ve got to say this party is coming together really, really well. Amazing DJ lineup, incredible menu, epic stage set-up… it’s going to be a lot of fun and we made it as cheap as possible. All you’ve gotta do to donate is show up, we’ll take care of the rest. As always, these events depend on The Cabinet to share and bring not just a big crowd, but the right crowd. Would love your help inviting friends to the Facebook event and sharing with non Assembly homies!
Benefitting: Stand Up 2 Cancer
NYC, June 3, 2017

The “World’s first Running Music Festival". Sign up and run or walk your way along the laser-lit route. The run benefits Stand Up 2 Cancer, which focuses on innovative cancer research. Registrants will receive a Night Nation T-shirt, glow necklace, race bib, free giveaways and free admission to the Night Nation afterparty.
Benefitting: Various Causes
Friends of Filibuster Jess Slevin & Ash Ross started this series since the election and have already raised over $14,000 for various causes. They are taking a break for the summer while people travel but I highly recommend you keep an eye out for their events (which will be easy cause I’ll share them here). Always great drink specials and always chill goodness... possibly the wokest Happy Hour in the city.
64 Cooper Sq, New York, NY 10003
So the people behind Death & Co. recently opened a new bar called Coup that is entirely setup to benefit various causes. Based on their previous projects it’s probably really cool on the inside and probably has amazing drinks. Here’s the quote from the creator: One-hundred percent of the profits are going to organizations that are either being defunded by the current administration or need money to fight the current administration, like Planned Parenthood and the A.C.L.U.
So maybe next time you’re looking for a cheeky drink in the area swing by and offset that party footprint!
That’s it for this first edition, thanks for making it all the way down here! If you have any events that you feel should make the next edition I’m all ears!
Be nice and (make) love (to) each other,
- The Senator
